Using the Remote Phone feature to make outbound calls
Warning: Remote Phone feature can be susceptible to fraud if you use an unsecure password (i.e 1234, 1974, etc). Please use a longer password (up to 10 digits) which is not sequential (i.e. 1234) and not common (i.e. your birth year, etc) to avoid fraud.
The Remote Phone feature can be used to make and receive your office phone calls on your home or cell phone. This article goes over setting up a particular phone as your Remote Phone, however, independent of that, if your organization has been setup with a special outbound number for Remote Phone, you can call that number and makes calls from any phone, for which all charges would go through your office phone. This essentially mimics what calling cards do, but, the billing will be broken down by extension, giving 100% accurate usage data. This will only work for users who have the Remote Phone feature enabled. To make outbound calls:
- Call the special outbound number for your organization or your local Remote Access number.
- Input your organizations main number, then *, your extension, followed by #
- Input your Web Portal password.
- Input your organizations outbound dial digit (i.e. the number you use to dial out when at the office - typically 9)
- Dial the number you wish to reach.
The receiver will see your office phone's outbound caller ID.
