BerryDialer Installation and Setup
BerryDialer is a calling card software for the BlackBerry platform which automates the process of entering the phone number and pin required for calling cards. Epik Networks uses this software with our Remote Phone feature to automate the process of calling long distance numbers through your office extension, while only having to pay for local call charges.
This feature will only work for individuals for whom the Remote Phone feature is enabled.
Warning: Remote Phone feature can be susceptible to fraud if you use an unsecure password (i.e 1234, 1974, etc). Please use a longer password (up to 10 digits) which is not sequential (i.e. 1234) and not common (i.e. your birth year, etc) to avoid fraud.
After you have purchased and downloaded the BerryDialer software, follow the below steps to install and setup BerryDialer:
- Extract the contents of the purchased software to a known location (such as the Desktop).

- Connect your BlackBerry device to your computer (you must have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed). Click on Application Loader.

- Click on Start under Add / Remove Applications.

- Wait for the Application Loader to load.

- Click on Browse.

- Choose berrydialer.alx from the directory where you extracted the purchased file. Click Open, and Next.

- Click Finish.

- After a few minutes, you will receive the below message.

- Go to Options. (Note, this may appear differently on your BlackBerry device).

- Go to Advanced Options.

- Go to Applications

- Depending on your device model, and the number of applications you currently have installed, this may take a moment to load.

- Choose BerryDialer.

- Press the Menu key (with BlackBerry logo, left of the trackball). Choose Edit Permissions.

- Change all permissions to Allow using the Menu key and track ball.

- Press the Escape key (to the right of the trackball), click Save.

- Repeat the same process with the BerryQuery application (a component of the BerryDialer).

- Turn your device off. Remove the battery, and put it back in. (This ensures that the cache is cleared).

- After your device restarts, go to Applications (this may appear differently on your model).

- Choose the BerryDialer icon (high-lighted below).

- Press the Menu key, and choose Add Card.

- Input the information as labelled below. Please contact your Account Manager or Care Desk at Epik Networks to get the access number. When the information is entered, press the Escape key, and choose Save. Pay attention to all the components, including the Pause, and placements of * and # entries. Note, the Web Portal password must only consist of digits. If your Web Portal password has letters, then you must log into Web Portal, change the password, and then complete the BerryDialer setup.

- You should now see your 'card' appear.

- BerryDialer only allows you to call your contacts through it. You must save a number to your contacts if you want to dial it through BerryDialer. Go to your Contacts (this may appear differently on your device).

- Choose the contact you wish to reach, and press the Menu key.

- If you don't see the entry BerryDialer Call in the menu, choose Full Menu and you should see the BerryDialer Call entry.

- After choosing BerryDialer Call, your phone will start dialing, and you will hear a long (5-10 seconds) sequence of beeps, and then your call will be connected through your extension.

Further Troubleshooting
- If the BerryDialer Call option doesn't appear in the menu, you may need to un-install BerryDialer, power-cycle the device, re-install BerryDialer, power-cycle the device again, and go through the above steps a second time. This process may be required on certain models.
- If you can't find the BerryDialer icon, it may be under 'Downloaded Files' or other folders on certain devices (especially the newer models).
- If the phone doesn't allow you to change BerryDialer permissions, you may need to contact your Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) administrator.
- Note, the Web Portal password must only consist of digits. If your Web Portal password has letters, then you must log into Web Portal, change the password, and then complete the BerryDialer setup.
