Creating a Find-Me List

The Find-Me feature lets you specify a list of phone numbers where a call will be forwarded if you do not answer your phone. This allows a caller to reach you at any one of your designated phone numbers.

The Find-Me feature is enabled when one or more Find-Me phone lists are created.

  1. Under the Call Management tab, click the Find-Me tab.
  2. Click Add to create a new list.
  3. The Numbers tab that is presented will show the following information at the top about the list you are creating. You can modify this information by clicking on the Options button:
  • Find-Me List Name – defaults to “Find-Me List #’ where “#” is a List ID number assigned at creation.
  • Find-Me List ID – this is a sequential number assigned to the list at creation. It can not be changed.
  • Find-Me Strategy – shows the find-me strategy to be used: “Sequential” means it will ring each phone number in order; “Ring All” means it will ring all the numbers in the list simultaneously after your desk phone is unanswered. “Simultaneous Ring” simultaneously rings all of the phones in your Find-Me list, including your desk phone.
  • Caller ID – indicates whether the Caller ID displayed to you is that of the caller or is the number of the IP phone that the original call was made to. It may display either “Show” or “Hide”, but defaults to “Show”, which means show the caller’s ID.

      4. Click Add to add a phone number to the list.
      5. Enter a destination Name.
      6. Enter a Phone Number where the phone should be forwarded if you do not answer.
      7. Use the pull-down lists to set the following:

  • Use This Phone Number – select one of the numbers from the drop-down list (populated by adding to My Numbers), or select Other to enter a new Find-Me number. If you select Other, then enter a Name and Number to be added to the Find-Me list
  • No Answer Timeout – the number of seconds the system will attempt to connect to this phone number. The length of time you set for the No Answer Timeout should be shorter than the length of time that any of the possible targets will wait to forward unanswered calls to voice mail. Otherwise, a call that is not answered may result in voice mail being left at the Find Me number and not your office number. It may also result in calls not forwarding to additional targets because the call is answered by an answering system and then disconnected. Example: Your Find Me list is set up to forward to your cell phone and then your home phone. You set the No Answer Timeout to 20 seconds, but your cell phone forwards to voice mail after 15 seconds. Calls will reach your cell phone, which will forward the call to voice mail, and the call will never reach your home phone.
  • Menu Timeout – the number of seconds the user has to respond to menu options.
  • Challenge Type – select the type of challenge question that a user will hear if they answer one of the phones in your Find-Me list.

      8. Click the Save button to create a new Find-Me List with one phone number.

NOTE: Clicking the Cancel button will take you back to the Find-Me page, but it will not cancel the
creation of the list. However, you can delete any Find-Me List on the Find-Me page by clicking
the Select checkbox and clicking the Delete button.
