Privacy Guard

Privacy Guard

Privacy Guard is a call screening service that allows you to decide how to handle incoming calls that have no Caller ID. When Privacy Guard is enabled, an unidentified caller will be announced and you can choose several options for handling the call. However, you can specify a 3-digit code or you can create a list of allowed phone numbers that can ring through directly to your phone. The caller would input the 3-digit code or their 10-digit phone number to connect to your phone.

How Privacy Guard Works
When Privacy Guard is enabled, callers that have no Caller ID are requested to record their name or enter the access code or their phone number before the call is connected. The access code can be either a 3-digit code that you have defined, or you can specify the caller’s 10-digit phone numbers that are allowed to connect to you. The phone numbers can be specified using the Selective Caller List in Web Portal.

The Selective Caller List will be a list of phone numbers of people that routinely call you with their Caller ID blocked. When someone in your Selective Caller List calls you, they will be prompted to press 1 to enter either the 3-digit code or their phone number. When a call is connected from an anonymous party, your phone will display the words “Privacy Guard” as the Caller ID Name. Otherwise, if the caller entered the 3-digit code or their phone number, the phone will display what the caller entered. When you answer a Privacy Guard call, the unidentified caller will be announced and you can accept the call, reject the call, send the call to voice mail (if you have that feature), or permanently block the caller.
NOTE: If you have a voice mail button on your phone, but you do not have a voice mail account, the transfer to voice mail prompt will be played. Choosing the transfer to voice mail option will result in reorder tone and you must make another selection.
